Coffee shop POS: fast orders and modifiers

Eight in the morning, a queue at the till, and everyone wants “a large, oat milk, extra shot.” The Dishment till turns that into a couple of taps and leaves the rest to the barista.

Familiar problems

  • № 01

    The morning queue

A guest rushing to work will wait three minutes, not five. Every extra tap at the till makes the line longer.

  • № 02

    Mixed-up modifiers

When size, milk, syrup and extra shots are passed on by word of mouth, the barista gets them wrong and the drink has to be made again.

  • № 03

    Milk and beans by guesswork

Nobody counts how many lattes come from a litre of milk or how many shots from a kilo of beans, so ordering is a guess.

One working day

07:45

The barista opens the cash shift and records the starting float. The espresso machine warms up.

  1. 07:45: The barista opens the cash shift and records the starting float. The espresso machine warms up.
  2. 08:15: The morning rush: a cappuccino, a flat white, two americanos to go. Modifiers in one tap, the ticket prints at the bar, the number goes on the screen.
  3. 11:30: A quiet spell. The manager checks stock: oat milk is below the minimum, so the supplier gets a call in good time.
  4. 14:00: A new seasonal drink, pumpkin latte, goes on the menu with its tech card, and its cost shows straight away.
  5. 17:30: Students settle in with laptops. They get the Wi-Fi password from the QR menu while the barista keeps up with orders.
  6. 21:00: The day is closed: the Z report, the cash in the drawer and which drinks sold today.

How it works with Dishment

  • Counter mode

A fast mode for the counter: order, payment and order number on one screen.

  • Modifiers

Size, milk, syrup and extra shots are picked with buttons and print clearly on the bar ticket.

  • A Ready screen

Two columns on a TV in the room: preparing and ready. The barista doesn’t have to shout names.

  • Tech cards with modifiers

With the Warehouse module every latte deducts its milk and coffee, extra shot included.

  • A screen made for fingers

Button size, font and colours on the till are tuned for a touch screen.

  • Selling offline

The mall Wi-Fi goes down, and the till keeps selling.

No. Counter mode puts order, payment and number on one screen. If you serve tables, you can add a tablet too.

  • Can orders print at the bar?

Yes. For the bar you can choose a printer, a screen or both.

  • Can several shops share one menu?

Yes. The menu is set up in one place, and each shop can change its prices separately.
